I read this every bit a beginner reader over 40 years ago, really enjoyable, lovely illustrations and uncomplicated but enjoyable text. The illustrations are fun and blithe, the bear characters are like shooting fish in a barrel to identify with and the story takes you lot on an take chances. So pitiful they don't make beginner readers of this calibre anymore.

Non simply is this book a dandy introduction to prepositions and spatial relations but it makes for a dynamic monologue for young actors. Plus, it teaches the dangers of sneaking out at night. I probably should accept read this to my younger siblings more often and fabricated it scarier; perhaps then we could have saved on bail coin.

For the record, I am NOT a Berenstain Bears fan.

The embrace of this volume identifies it every bit being a Beginner Book for Beginning Beginners, which sort of puts me manner, way, way out of its category. This book is pretty much designed for people who are learning to read (though surprisingly, there are probably more people my age who are at this level, and have spoken English nearly of their lives, than the government is willing to acknowledge).

Hey, I'm not going to knock this book because as a kid I loved it. The sentences were very short, and related well to the pictures, then it enables usa to identify the sentence and the activeness with the picture show that it relates to. It also repeats the same phrase regularly so, every bit a kid who is learning to read, it helps put these concepts into our minds. Also, it is useful for training in the utilise of prepositions, considering each of the deportment relates to one of the bears in relation to an object (over the wall, nether the bridge, between the rocks).

It makes me wonder though if the way that linguistic communication is constructed, and Wittginstein indicated only that, that the whole concept in and of itself, is relative. Things only accept names because we give them names, but the name itself, of an object or an action, is pretty much relative. In fact, even the preposition that is used to ascertain the relationship between 2 nouns, is likewise pretty relative. I wonder, as I read this volume, whether I can actually translate it into German, which may be a good practise as I try to learn the language.

This is from a fourth dimension when people idea that you had to explicitly teach people these things. Y'all don't! You don't need to explicitly teach children prepositions. They volition pick them upwards on their ain, and if they don't, and then they will ask yous. They're not learning a foreign language; information technology's a little unlike.

The best office: The final page where Mama Bear is obliviously sitting in a rocking chair, sewing a handkerchief or something, and all seven bears are back in bed fast asleep.
